museo della centrale & science centre immaginario scientifico

Located in the lush natural landscape at the foot of a mountain, the former hydroelectric power station “Antonio Pitter” is a charming example of industrial architecture dating back to the early 20th century. It has now been transformed into a museum where visitors can see the well-preserved original machinery and the control room.

The historical museum set in the former hydroelectric power station “Antonio Pitter” of Malnisio, in Montereale Valcellina, tells the life of an impressive example of industrial archaeology, from the history of the valley to the building of the power station and its decommissioning. Through the well-preserved machinery and an exhibition on workers’ tools, the museum provides a wide vision of the human and working values that are still pervasive today.

The museum also organises several activities for schools, such as:

GUIDED VISITS in the power station museum, to see the most significant steps of hydroelectric power production.

DEMONSTRATIONS AND EXPERIMENTAL ACTIVITIES: the Science Centre provides a broad range of workshops to arouse curiosity about science through informal education activities. By using common objects and simple experimental equipment, 6 to 18 year olds can learn different scientific topics related to hydroelectricity, such as physics and ecology.

NAVIS: the Science Centre comes to you directly in your school, with workshops organized to be held in class, to stimulate group work.

IMAGINABLE: museum tours targeting the disabled.
