On May 5, 1986, Immaginario Scientifico was born.
In Paris, during Trouver Trieste — a cultural event dedicated to our city — Imaginaire Scientifique came to life:
an exhibition hosted in the brand-new Cité des Sciences at La Villette, presenting Trieste’s scientific identity in a completely new way. Not through words, but through images able to inspire wonder, leave an impression, and stay in people’s memories.
It was the beginning of everything: from an exhibition it became an educational center, and eventually a permanent museum: from the Trieste Trade Fair grounds to Grignano, and finally to the heart of Porto Vecchio in Trieste and the former Cotonificio in Pordenone.

40 years later, the same mission continues: making science something to experience, not just to explain.
To celebrate this milestone, everyone born in 1986 — just like us — will enjoy free admission to both the Trieste and Pordenone museums from May 5 to June 15, 2026.
A way to celebrate together a generation… and an idea that made history.
